Karachi, 29 October 2026: Mr. Munawar Ali Mithani, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh, along with the Project Management & Implementation Unit (PM&IU) for Drug Control & Rehabilitation team, held a coordination meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC), Karachi, to discuss measures for improving the standards and quality of drug rehabilitation services across Sindh.

The meeting focused on improving rehabilitation centre standards, simplifying the SHCC registration process, strengthening regulatory compliance, and establishing a joint inspection and monitoring mechanism for rehabilitation facilities.

The proposed coordination aims to promote safe, quality, and accessible treatment and rehabilitation services through improved oversight, institutional collaboration, and adherence to applicable regulatory requirements.

The Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh, remains committed to strengthening the rehabilitation sector through effective coordination with relevant regulatory authorities and service providers to improve support for individuals affected by substance use.
