Child Welfare & Protection Initiatives
It is working in collaboration with government departments, UNICEF and NGOs working for child welfare and protection.

Organize workshops, seminars and trainings for the promotion, propagation and awareness of child rights.
To strengthen associations working for the welfare and development of children in the Province of Sindh.
The following activities and programs support child welfare, protection, awareness, coordination and development initiatives across Sindh.
In all types of activities, PCCWD presents child protection policy which is according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), promoting diversified partnership and cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organizations.
“Achhay Dost” FM Radio Program was aired in order to create awareness among children and the general public.
Provincial Commission for Child Welfare and Development, Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with UNICEF, reviewed the Vagrancy Act and Police Order 2002 to identify gaps and inconsistencies with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and proposed amendments in the best interest of children.
Provincial Commission for Child Welfare and Development, Social Welfare Department established an endowment fund in collaboration with UNICEF (UAE Government Funded) to provide conditional cash grants to children involved in camel racing who were returned after 1 March 2005 and are now permanently residing in Sindh.
CPMIS is a comprehensive provincial monitoring system for child protection, designed to manage an information database and undertake relevant research.
CPMIS strives to collaborate with relevant ministries, departments, provincial governments, civil society organizations and UNICEF.
The establishment of the CPU is part of the mechanism intended to strengthen the gate-keeping function at the local level by introducing a single point of contact for families and children who need support.
The Child Protection Unit will be established by the Social Welfare Department, Provincial Commission for Child Welfare and Development, Government of Sindh, in collaboration with the Police, Judiciary, UNICEF, concerned Government Departments and partner organizations initially at Saddar Town, Karachi.
The Child Protection Authority Bill 2005 was drafted in consultation with various stakeholders and was sent to the Honourable Chief Minister for approval and is under process.
The purpose of these trainings is to educate and create awareness so that procedures for dealing with minors in conflict with the law according to the Juvenile Justice System Ordinance are followed.
Provincial Commission for Child Welfare and Development, Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh, operationalized the Children Help Line in 2007. Unfortunately, a fire engulfed the office of PCCWD and everything was destroyed. The Help Line is now planned to be restarted.
The Social Welfare Department continues to work with government departments, UNICEF and partner organizations for the promotion, protection and welfare of children across Sindh.
